Our Mission

Our Caring, Experienced and Highly Trained Paediatric Podiatrist is passionate about treating children and adolescent foot, ankle and knee problems.

We provide structured and evidence based treatment modalities for both finding accurate diagnosis and treatment of any condition facing your child.

There is no age limit or starting age for treatment, we can assist with the management and advice of babies right up to the mature teenager. If you feel there is a problem, you should at least get an opinion. Early advice can prevent adult issues.

Early intervention and prevention of chronic conditions in children is our primary focus in providing a timely, and very effective treatment outcome for our patients

What should I do if I think my child might have a foot problem?

Growing pains and pain during activity or rest pain is not normal.

If your child complains of pain in their feet, knees or legs, tires easily when walking or exercising, it is best to have your child checked for possible foot and or leg problems.

We can assist with  often simple changes to footwear, massage or orthoses therapy to assist with alignment or postural issues children can have.

Early intervention is key to preventing and managing long term foot and leg problems.

When should your child have their feet checked?

We recommend having your children's feet checked in order to reduce the risk of injury, assessment of milestones and to provide early intervention if needed.

  • At Age 3 – Your child develops a ‘heel-toe’ gait pattern and the age when the arch profile  has started to develop.

  • Age 5 – School age is a good time to have them checked to establish any issues or footwear advise as they are about to undertake a dramatic increase in activity and the forces the body is subjected to is increased due to the growth of your child.

  • Age 11-12 –  This is the start of puberty and the development of bone maturation, with children getting heavier and often becoming involved in higher level sports.
This is the most common time for  issues associated with the foot to develop due to the changing of the body and increase in sporting activities.

Treatment Options for your child

The treatment process involves firstly by  identifying the dysfunction.

Treatment options range from soft tissue release, stretching, gentle mobilisation of the feet, and exercise prescription.

The utilisation of custom orthotics to provide the stable base to initiate the alignment of the body.  Muscle activation and stabilisation further contribute to long term pain free relief. We utilise a combination of modalities with a holistic approach to assessment and treatment dysfunction.
