Sports Podiatry
Running produces significant ground reaction forces that are absorbed by the feet, knees and hips. Repetitive overuse or an imbalance in biomechanical function can result in pain which often leads to injury.
It’s no surprise, that some of the most common sports injuries are directly attributed to how an athlete’s movement pattern is influenced by the impact to the ground or playing surface.

Whether you are an elite athlete, dedicated amateur or an active individual, foot and leg pain can really set you back physically and mentally.
Here at Better Health our experience, knowledge and expertise will put you on the right path back to sport, gym, work and active living sooner than you think.
Our dedicated highly skilled Sports Podiatrist specialises in all foot, leg and hip pain and injuries.

We use the latest video and gait analysis tools to identify the dysfunction contributing to your foot and leg pain issues.

We tailor individualised specialised treatment modalities and rehabilitation techniques to not only address the pain or injury but help you prevent future injuries.

Video Gait and Biomechanical analysis
Evaluation of your gait mechanics is the first step in achieving optimal results in the treatment process.
Function can only be improved once limitations or dysfunctions are understood. A biomechanical assessment, as part of the diagnostic and treatment process, is essential to effectively treat sports and gait influenced injuries.
Video gait analysis may be used to comprehensively educate you on your foot posture, biomechanical alignment and muscle imbalance, by testing you functionally.
Functional testing will identify mechanical factors contributing to your injury. Once we have identified the key mechanisms contributing to your injury, we will implement the appropriate treatment modalities to create mechanical change that will provide an immediate reduction in pain. With ongoing support, we will re-test to ensure a significant reduction in pain, and improved function.
The findings of these functional tests provide the framework for our long-term management strategies.

Treatment options
The treatment process involves firstly by identifying the dysfunction.
Treatment options range from soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, and exercise prescription.
The utilisation of custom orthoses to provide the stable base to initiate the alignment of the body. Muscle activation and stabilisation further contribute to long term pain free relief. We utilise a combination of modalities with a holistic approach to assessment and treatment dysfunction.
